Neurofeedback Therapy in Conroe, TX

If you have been struggling with anxiety, ADHD symptoms, difficulty focusing, poor sleep, brain fog, emotional reactivity, or the effects of prolonged stress, you may have wondered whether there is a way to work more directly with the brain—not just the symptoms you experience.
At Authentic Brain Solutions, I offer two different approaches to neurofeedback: NewMind Functional Neurofeedback and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. These technologies work differently, which allows neurofeedback services to be selected and individualized based on a person’s needs, goals, history, and assessment findings.
For some clients, that means beginning with comprehensive assessment and brain mapping to better understand patterns of brain function before developing a customized neurofeedback training plan. For others, IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback may offer a gentle approach that supports nervous system regulation without requiring active participation during the session.
My goal is not to assume that one type of neurofeedback is appropriate for everyone. Instead, I look at the whole person and help determine which approach—or combination of approaches—may best support the concerns that brought you to Authentic Brain Solutions.
Authentic Brain Solutions provides in-person neurofeedback therapy for children, adolescents, and adults in Conroe, Montgomery, The Woodlands, Willis, Lake Conroe, Woodforest, and surrounding communities in Montgomery County.

What Is Neurofeedback Therapy?

Neurofeedback is a brain-based approach that uses information about brain activity patterns to promote improved self-regulation.
Your brain is constantly producing electrical activity as different networks communicate with one another. These patterns change depending on whether you are concentrating, relaxing, sleeping, handling emotions, solving a problem, or responding to stress.
Sometimes patterns of brain activity can become inefficient or less flexible. This does not necessarily mean something is “wrong” with the brain. Rather, certain brain networks may have difficulty shifting efficiently between states such as attention and rest, activation and relaxation, or emotional response and recovery.
Neurofeedback is designed to support the brain’s capacity to regulate and adapt.
At Authentic Brain Solutions, neurofeedback is not viewed as a stand-alone answer to every problem. It can be one component of a wider neuroscience-informed approach that may also include counseling, EMDR therapy, nervous system regulation, lifestyle considerations, BrainGauge assessment, and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment.

What IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback Therapy Sessions Look Like

A simple way to think about how IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback works is to imagine your brain activity like water running through a garden hose. When a garden hose becomes kinked, the water will not flow optimally—or, maybe not even at all. Receiving IASIS MCN allows the hose to become unkinked so optimal water flow is restored. Because microcurrent neurofeedback promotes an environment for brain waves to resume a normal and healthy pattern, the root of the problem is addressed, not just the symptoms.

During neurofeedback therapy, five or more small electrodes are placed on your neck and head, and an electroencephalogram (EEG) is recorded. The ultra-microstimulation current emitted is less than a cell phone and most clients report that they don’t notice any physical sensation from it. Throughout neurofeedback therapy, you will sit passively and remain relaxed. As the neurofeedback practitioner monitors the screen and electrodes for connectivity, you may engage in some conversation, but otherwise, the experience will be calming and restful.

It’s recommended that sessions occur 1-2 times a week for intervals of 30-45 minutes. Since every brain is different, the improvement time varies. A key factor in determining the duration of neurofeedback therapy is how long you’ve been struggling with your issues. While some clients report improvements within 1-3 sessions, others may take more sessions to see results. In general, most clients report experiencing sustained improvement within 12-20 sessions.

Other Things To Know About IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback

IASIS MCNF requires in-person visits that will take place at my office located in Conroe/Montgomery, Texas. My office at 96 Beach Walk Blvd, Suite 201D is situated in the Lake Conroe area off Highway 105, making it easily accessible from downtown Conroe, Montgomery, Walden, and the Woodforest community.

I do not take private insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid and only offer cash-pay services. However, I will issue superbills for clients who would like to seek reimbursement for out-of-network claims.

Who Can Benefit From Neurofeedback Therapy?

I work with clients of all ages, from infants to folks in their 90s. Clients report neurofeedback therapy can reduce the symptoms of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration shows that roughly one in five adults in the United States experiences a mental health condition each year, and Texas is no exception.

Clients report benefits from IASIS MC Neurofeedback when they experience problems with insomnia, Autism, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or the effects of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or Ataxia, a movement disorder similar to Parkinson’s. Extensive research has been conducted on microcurrent neurofeedback that supports its effectiveness “for ADHD, anxiety, autism, insomnia, PTSD, tinnitus, and more.”

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Continue to experience anxiety, stress, or emotional dysregulation despite other strategies.
  • Want to explore non-medication approaches as part of a broader treatment plan.
  • Are interested in understanding your brain function through assessments such as brain mapping (when appropriate).

It may not be the best fit if:

  • You’re looking for a quick fix or guaranteed outcome.
  • Your primary concern requires immediate medical evaluation.
  • You’re seeking a replacement for medical or psychiatric care rather than a complementary service.

Supporting Peak Performance in the Conroe Area

Additionally, IASIS MCF can support and enhance peak performance, including sports, academics, and executive function. After completing neurofeedback therapy, clients report enhanced memory and cognitive function, as well as feeling more focused and relaxed when performing. Whether you are a student, a working professional, or an athlete in the greater Lake Conroe area, neurofeedback therapy in Conroe, TX can help you reach your full potential.

In addition to neurofeedback therapy, I may incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness into the treatment plan, depending upon a client’s concerns.

I decided to incorporate IASIS MCNF into my practice after witnessing firsthand the beneficial outcome it had on a family member who used it to reduce the symptoms of ADHD and anxiety. I was already a certified EMDR therapist at the time and could see the importance of effective brain-based techniques when supporting clients.

After I began providing IASIS MCNF to my friends and family members with each reporting the results were astonishing. I knew then that this modality would become a key part of my practice. I decided to focus on neuro counseling, a brain-based approach to therapy that promotes optimal functioning. In addition to neurofeedback therapy, neuro counseling recognizes the importance of diet, exercise, and adequate sleep while also integrating the social and spiritual aspects of your life to address your overall well-being.

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback offers a gentle, natural, medication-free option to improve brain function. Because it typically takes less time to experience results, IASIS MCF is less expensive than traditional neurofeedback or talk therapy techniques. Its ability to calm and balance the brain can lead to lasting change in your life.

Research on neurofeedback has shown encouraging results for some conditions and individuals, although findings vary depending on the neurofeedback method, the condition being treated, and study design. Neurofeedback continues to be an active area of research, and treatment decisions should be individualized in consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Here are some frequently asked questions about neurofeedback:

What does neurofeedback feel like?

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback is extremely gentle. Most clients simply relax while small sensors monitor brain activity. You do not have to actively “do” anything during treatment.

Is neurofeedback painful?

No. IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback is non-invasive and painless. Many clients describe sessions as relaxing, and some report feeling calmer or mentally clearer afterward.

How many neurofeedback sessions are usually recommended?

Every brain is different, but many clients participate in approximately 12 to 25 sessions. Some people notice changes within the first few visits, while others experience gradual improvement over time.

Can neurofeedback help with ADHD, anxiety, or brain fog?

Neurofeedback is used to support healthier brain regulation and may be beneficial for concerns including ADHD symptoms, anxiety, stress, sleep difficulties, brain fog, and emotional regulation. During your consultation, we’ll discuss whether it may be appropriate for your goals.

Will I still need counseling?

Sometimes. Neurofeedback addresses brain regulation, while counseling helps process emotions, behaviors, relationships, and life experiences. Many clients benefit from combining both approaches for more comprehensive care.
